The newest and the only aviation salon related to hydroaviation in the world already has its own history. The First International Exhibition and Scientific-Practical Conference on Hydroaviation "GELENDZHIK '96" was held from 24 to 29 September 1996 at the Test Base of Beriev Aircraft Company and Gelendzhik Airport.
82 aviation companies and institutions from 15 countries took part in the First salon. More than 100 000 visitors attended the Exhibition, including 2000 experts and 120 journalists. There were demonstrated 32 aircraft at outer aircraft static display and in flight, five of them were the novelties. Totally there were performed over 199 demoflights during 6 days.
More than 100 persons from 26 companies took part in the Scientific-Practical Conference on Gidroaviation. 52 scientific reports were given.
The visitors and experts could familiarize themselves with hydroplanes design and developments, interior, and arrangements. The avionics, aircraft equipment, engines, emergency equipment, radio communication equipment, and other aerospace industry products were exhibited on the stands. The indoor exhibition space was 3360 sqm.

This is the first experimental prototype of the Be-103 light multipurpose amphibious aircraft designed for passenger and cargo transportation.
